Stump Pass
Englewood, FLStump Pass never disappoints. Located between Englewood Beach and Palm Island, this gem of an area consists of numerous, beautiful beaches and boating access points. It’s one of the five best boating locations in SW Florida with the others being Don Pedro Island State Park, Boca Grande, Cayo Costa and North Captiva.
THE PASS
In my opinion, the best part of Stump Pass is the turquoise, clear, water that flows through it. It seems to enhance the beauty of everything around. Through the years the pass has taken on a new shape almost annually. As a result, it’s important to get some local knowledge before you go or simply, follow other boaters as they navigate it (primarily when entering the pass from the gulf).
THE SANDBARS & BEACHES
My two favorite spots are just inside the northern corner to “ski ally” and a small, beach-access opening further north from there. Ski ally is a natural mangrove channel that runs just inside the beach heading north. It’s not a slow zone so there are boat wakes. You’ll want to use a bow anchor and a stern anchor when securing your spot.
