South Beach Park

Hutchinson Island, FL

South Beach Park on Hutchinson Island was my very first “Lazy Location”. I filmed it last year during one of my trips to check on the new Hewes. It was before I found my groove and, as a result, I don’t have as many good pictures. Whoops! However, I still posted because I have the 360 video and it’s still a great place.

CONVENIENT LOCATION

South Beach Park is conveniently located close to the inlet where most of the restaurants, lodging and activity is on the north end of the island. However, it’s also far enough away so you feel slightly secluded.

OCEAN WAVES

One of my favorite things about the East Coast of Florida is the fact that they have waves. To me, waves are fun and are a great way to get a workout in while also relaxing. On the day I filmed, the waves were flat which is a typical, summer pattern.

SAND

The sand at South Beach Park was darker brown and coarse. I highly recommend wearing flip flops during the spring and summer because the sand gets very hot.

WATER

The water on Hutchinson Island is very nice. It has a bright, turquoise blue look to it and can get very clear — especially in the spring and summer when the wind is calm. The day I filmed it was a little churned up and, consequently, not as clear.

NICE AMENITIES

South Beach Park has all the essential amenities. Here, you can find lifeguards, plenty of free parking, picnic pavilions, restrooms and showers. Also, the pathways to the beach were easy to walk on and short in distance.
