North Captiva Island
Lee County, FLNorth Captiva Island is a special place. Located north of Captiva and south of Cayo Costa, North Captiva is a great blend of the two. If you want to experience island living but don’t want to travel far to do it, North Captiva is for you.
THE ISLAND
Unspoiled, uncrowded, quaint, peaceful, beautiful, friendly, nautical, tropical, etc. These are all words that come to mind when describing North Captiva Island. The island consists of two parts; the residential part on the northern half and the natural preserve on the southern half. Apparently, there are 50 year-round, residents who live on the island. In addition, there are numerous residential homes as well as a few restaurants, a convenience store and a small resort and marina. The primary means of transportation on the island is by golf cart.
THE BEACH
Like most of the islands in Charlotte Harbor, North Captiva has an amazing stretch of beach. The best part is on the southern half of the island. It’s here where you can find your own tropical beach and spend time getting away from it all. The water is crystal-clear, the sand is powdery-white and soft, the backdrop is a nature preserve and the currents are light.
BOAT OR PLANE ACCESS ONLY
The only way to visit North Captiva Island is by private boat, private plane (they have their own grass runway) or by private ferry. The ferry leaves from southern Pine Island and makes approximately 7 trips daily. More information on the ferry can be found HERE.
If you own a small plane you can find information about the runway HERE.

THE AREA
North Captiva is just one island within a string of islands that are some of the most beautiful in all of Florida. The area is even more appealing because it provides an easy escape from busy Ft. Myers to the south and busy Tampa to the north. I can’t recommend the area enough!
