Keewaydin Island Sandbar

Naples, FL

Keewaydin Island Sandbar is definitely one of the nicest locations I’ve visited in Florida!

AMAZING LOCATION

Keewaydin Island is seven miles of pristine beauty, located south of Naples and north of Marco Island in Collier County, Florida.  It’s totally unspoiled, has an amazing beach and sandbar and is only accessible by boat.  The go-to spot on the island is the very southern tip.  That location has a beautiful sandy shoreline on the bayside and a breathtaking beach on the Gulfside. It’s very popular every day of the week but even more so on the weekends. Be sure to arrive early to secure a spot!

BEST OF BOTH WORLDS

Not only do you have a pristine boating location with gin-clear water, but you also have one of the nicest beaches in America just across the island.  In fact, Keewaydin Island was ranked by Coastal Living magazine as the third best “top secret” beaches in the WORLD!  Lucky you that it’s only a short boat ride away!

TEN TIPS TO MAKE YOUR BOATING BETTER

FOOD & ICE CREAM

Often, you’ll see a floating concession stand beached on the shoreline.  When I visited, I saw an ice cream boat.  She was busy! I’ve also heard that another boat that frequents Keewaydin is one that sells cheeseburgers and other items.  Be on the lookout for one of these boats to satisfy your hunger or sweet tooth.  Better yet, come prepared with your own stuff just in case.

FLOATING & CHILLIN

One of the most popular activities at Keewaydin is to grab a raft and float with the current.  When you get to the end, walk back on the shoreline and do it again.  It’s the ideal thing to do during a hot, summer day with your friends or family and is even more perfect with your favorite beverage in-hand.

HOW TO GET HERE

If you live in the Naples or Marco Island area, Keewaydin is a short boat ride away.  If you’re like me and visiting from out of town, you’ll want to use the boat ramp at Bayside Park.  Click on the link in the information link below. The ramp is great, has restrooms and decent parking.  The ramp cost is $8/day.  Once you leave the ramp, the destination is only 20 minutes away.  The trip south is mostly a 30 mph zone with a couple of slow zones mixed in.

I utilize the service and benefits of Boat U.S.  They are a great organization that every boater should consider. You should too.  Click HERE to learn more.
