Boca Grande Sandbar
Boca Grande, FLBoca Grande Sandbar is one of the nicest sandbars in Florida and is located on the West Coast of Florida just off the island’s causeway. It’s a spectacular place because of the calm, crystal-clear, water, the hard-packed, shallow, sandbar and the iconic backdrop of the famous railroad trestle.
GASPARILLA ISLAND & BOCA GRANDE
Boca Grande is my favorite place in Florida. It’s an upscale, fishing town located on Gasparilla Island; south of Sarasota and north of Ft. Myers. The island is a throwback in time and feels like you’re visiting Florida 50 years ago (minus the numerous, huge mansions). In addition, the town has two hotels (The Gasparilla Inn and The Innlet) as well as many, great restaurants. I highly recommend staying at The Innlet or renting a house on, nearby, Palm Island or Little Gasparilla Island. All three spots also offer boat dockage!
THESE WATER FLOATS ARE A MUST FOR THE SANDBAR
THE RAILROAD TRESTLE
The iconic railroad trestle was built in 1907 and used for 50 years to transport phosphates to ships docked in the pass. The railroad was abandoned in 1981 and, today, the weathered trestle has become an iconic feature and familiar backdrop to all the boats that enter Charlotte Harbor from the north.
NEARBY BOAT RAMPS
When trailering to the area, the most convenient boat ramps to use are the ramps at Placida Park and Eldred’s Marina. Detailed information can be found in a previous post (click on the link below).
THESE TWO BOAT RAMPS OFFER THE MOST CONVENIENT ACCESS TO BOCA GRANDE
If trailering your boat I strongly suggest using BOAT US for trailer coverage and roadside assistance. Besides trailering, Boat US also offers a wealth of benefits that will make your boating better. Click HERE for more information about Boat US.
