COMPLETE DEVISTATION HAPPENING

As I type this the “out islands” of the Abacos are experiencing the strongest hurricane ever on modern record.  With sustained winds of over 185 mph and gusts to over 220 mph, the islands of Elbow Cay, Man-O-War, Guana, Scotland Cay, Abaco as well as Treasure Cay and Marsh Harbour are experiencing complete devastation.

HOW TO KEEP UPDATED

In my opinion, the best way to stay informed on what’s happening in The Bahamas is through Twitter and Facebook.  Many of the people crazy enough to film this event (and lucky enough to intercept it) are not normal newscasters.  They are professional storm chasers and definitely put their lives at risk.  Here are the ones I follow.  Please let me know if you have any you prefer.

Other places for info are through Facebook Groups and pages.  These are places that are best used for people trying to find information about loved ones and area-specific information.  As such, don’t contribute unless you have meaningful information to share to ask.

ONE OF THE MOST BEAUTIFUL AREAS IN THE WORLD

The out islands of the Abacos are some of the most beautiful in the world.  So many people from all over visit and the locals rely on tourism as their primary livelihood.  Here are some videos of what it used to look like (and hopefully will again).
