Hopetown Harbour Lodge Beach

The town of Hope Town in the Abacos (Northern Bahamas) is one of my favorite places to live the lazy life.  Hope Town is the main town on the island of Elbow Cay.  What makes Hope Town especially great is the fact that you feel like you’re away from everything while still having some convenient amenities if you need them.  The same can’t be said for many of the Bahamas “out islands”.

SO MANY OPTIONS

In particular, you’ll find a great selection of homes to rent, boat rental companies, tons of spectacular places to explore by boat, incredible beach bars, great restaurants, a few hotels/resorts, a coffee house, gift shops, one of the best bakery’s anywhere, diving/snorkeling excursions, a health clinic and nice people. THE BEACH & BAR

Hope Town Harbour Lodge beach is great because the sand is pinkish and awesome, coconut palms are everywhere, the water is crystal-clear, the waves aren’t rough and there’s a beautiful coral reef that’s perfect for snorkeling.  In addition, there are lounge chairs for the guest’s use, and just over the dune you’ll find the “Reef Bar & Grill”, a freshwater pool a shower and restrooms.  Even though longtime bartender, Gary; famous for his riddles, has retired, the bar at Hope Town Harbour Lodge is one of the best.  By the way, you don’t have to stay at the resort to use it their amenities!

Hope Town Harbour Lodge Beach is the perfect lazy location and an absolute “must” if you’re visiting Hope Town in the Bahamas.

HURRICANE DORIAN UPDATE!

Hurricane Dorian hit the Out Islands of Abaco the hardest.  One of the worst hit islands was Elbow Cay and, consequently, Hope Town Harbour Lodge.  As of this update (6/7/2020) Hope Town Harbour Lodge is for sale and suffered extensive damage.  I’m sure the hotel will be purchased and brought back to life however, it’ll take a few years.  Conversely, the other amenities on Elbow Cay seem to be recovering quicker so check back for additional updates and blog posts on the recovery efforts.
