Whiskey Creek

Fort Lauderdale, FL

Whiskey Creek in Fort Lauderdale is a fantastic boating escape. Nestled among the busiest part of SE Florida is a tropical oasis that is the complete opposite.

IS THIS FORT LAUDERDALE?

Yup. Whiskey Creek is located just south of the Port Everglades Inlet, within the Dr. Von D. Mizell-Eula Johnson State Park. The creek is lined with tall tropical foliage and provides easy access to a tropical Atlantic beach just across the dune. Other than hearing a constant roar of airplanes taking off from the Int’l Airport, you’d never know you’re in Fort Lauderdale.

ANOTHER AMAZING PLACE TO VISIT BY BOAT

THE CREEK

Whiskey Creek is accessed from an opening on the eastern side of the ICW south of the inlet. The western side of the ICW is Port Everglades and is very industrial-looking due to the numerous ships that are docked there. As a result, the water is deep and has good flow from the proximity of the inlet. An added benefit of this is clear water! There’s a bridge you’ll have to clear and then the creek turns south. You’ll beach your boat along the eastern side. I believe the creek will get shallower the further you go so be aware.

THE BEACH

The beach in this part of Florida is fantastic. The reason is a combination of tall coconut palms, white sand, and crystal-clear water. The sand can get hot so make sure to wear flip flops or sandals. This is a nice, wide beach and is a perfect place to spend the day. Also, there is a restaurant and water-sports rental business inside the creek for convenience.

In a place where time doesn’t sit still, it’s nice to have a place like Whiskey Creek to slow it down a lot.

I utilize the service and benefits of Boat U.S.  They are a great organization that every boater should consider. You should too.  Click HERE to learn more.
