New Pass Sandbar

Bonita Beach, FL

The New Pass sandbar in Bonita Beach is one of the most popular places for boaters in the Ft. Myers area. It’s a great place to spend the day relaxing in a beautiful setting.

THE SANDBAR(S)

New Pass has three different sandbars or boat locations.  The best one is along the northern shoreline with the other one being located on the south side at the northern tip of the Pelican Landing Beach Park.  The third area is “Dog Beach”.  More on that below.

LOCATION

New Pass separates Bonita Beach and Lover’s Key and is one of four passes that connects Estero Bay with the Gulf of Mexico.  Of all the Passes, New Pass is the most friendly for boaters who want to drop the anchor or beach the boat and relax.  Within the pass, there are numerous sandbars and beaches and boats are commonly found at each one.  As with all inlets, currents can be tricky however, the further away from the entrance the better off you should be.

DOG BEACH

Located on the inside of the pass and easily accessible off of Estero Blvd. or by boat is “Dog Beach”.  Dog Beach is a sandbar that extends into the pass and is a perfect spot for dogs to freely play. It’s also a designated dog park. So, if you happen to have your dog with you, make sure to check it out.
