The Beautiful Lakes of Winter Park

The beautiful lakes of Winter Park, FL are some of the nicest lakes in all of the state. Five lakes make up the Winter Park chain of lakes but only four are accessible by the canal system. The four lakes include Lake Maitland, Lake Mizell, Lake Osceola and Lake Virginia. All can be accessed via the beautiful canal system and two boat ramps. The two boat ramps are “Dinky Dock Park” (410 Ollie Ave) and “Fort Maitland Park” (900 S. Orlando Ave).In order to use the ramps you’ll need to pay a daily fee or purchase an annual pass.

BOAT REQUIREMENTS

Boats must generally be under 21ft in length and can’t exceed 8′ in width. Exceptions are sailboats and pontoon boats that can go up to 24′ in length. If you don’t have a boat you can cruise the chain on a sightseeing boat or rent a paddle board or kayak.

DISNEY JUNGLE CRUISE FEEL

The lakes are perfect places for water sports and that’s primarily who you’ll see on water when you visit. There aren’t many places to beach your boat or chill. Dog Island on Lake Maitland is the only place that I’m aware of. Regardless, the highlight to me is always cruising the beautiful canals that connect all the lakes. It’s like a kind of “jungle cruise” that isn’t a theme park!
