Ocean Hammock Park is a fantastic oasis tucked away in fabulous St. Augustine Beach. The park has one of the longest canopy-lined, boardwalks that I’ve seen and is a great place to enjoy the day.

LOCATION

Ocean Hammock Park is located in St. Augustine Beach just across the street from the famous “Sea Colony” development. Nearby, you’ll find lots beachy restaurants, plenty of shopping and Downtown St. Augustine just across the bridge.

BEACH

The beach at Ocean Hammock Park is sandy near the dunes but quickly becomes rock-hard as you walk towards the water. A very unique feature of this beach is that automobiles are allowed to drive on it. Therefore, you’ll have to look both ways as you enter the beach from the walkway. Don’t worry though, the speed limit is only 10 mph. Aside from that, there aren’t any amenities nor lifeguards on the beach and the water is perfect for enjoying the waves and surfing or boogie-boarding. It’s also worth noting that the ocean water clarity is vastly improved from the Jacksonville beaches.

AMENITIES

The one negative (or positive) about Ocean Hammock Park is that there are no amenities. Other than the beautiful boardwalk that leads to the beach you won’t find much else here. Parking is free and there are plenty of parking spaces.

BOARDWALK

The signature item at this park is the beautiful boardwalk. Stretching 1/4 mile from the parking lot to the beach, this feature is shady and covered in a canopy of beautiful, coastal vegetation. It’s the perfect beach access for those who want to ride their bikes too!
