Crescent Beach on Siesta Key

Sarasota, FL

My “go-to” beach is Crescent Beach on Siesta Key. It’s awesome for a variety of reasons!

GREAT LOCATION

While it’s the public beach that gets all the attention (and most of the visitors), Crescent Beach is just as good and, in many ways, better!   Crescent Beach is located about a block south of the southern bridge onto the island.  Make a left at the  “Midnight Pass Rd.” traffic light and you’ll see “Beach Access #12” on your right.  That’s the entrance.  There is also another access south of that (Access #13) but there’s no parking there.

AMAZING SAND & WATER

The best features of this beach are the two that made all of Siesta Key famous; its’ super-white, powdery sand and its’ beautiful water!  The sand is so fine that it’s literally like powder and the water is super-clear and tropical-looking — especially, during the Spring! The pictures in this post were taken in late July and show that it’s still pretty amazing!

LOW-KEY ATMOSPHERE

The second thing I like about Crescent Beach is its’ “low-key” vibe.  The famous, public beach to the north can get crazy at times while this beach typically, remains calm and relaxing.  You’ll find that this beach is perfect for families too.

CONVENIENCE

The third thing that makes Crescent Beach nice is it’s convenient to so many things.  It’s close to the mainland thereby, making it easy to travel by foot or bike. It’s also surrounded by numerous restaurants, retail stores and convenience stores — all within easy walking distance.

TRICKY PARKING

Like everywhere on Siesta nowadays, parking is an issue.  Crescent Beach has its’ own parking via access #12 however, it’s a very narrow lot and is not conducive for large SUV’s or pickup trucks.  There are approximately 20 spaces available at this access.  Alternatively, there’s a private lot located across the road (across from Siesta Key Marina) that has more spaces and the walk isn’t bad.  The only negative is they charge for parking ($5/hr) however, it’s a nice option if nothing else works.
