Canaveral National Seashore Beach
New Smyrna Beach, FLThe east coast of Florida has really built up over the years but a stretch of that section — specifically, the area from New Smyrna Beach south to Jupiter still holds a lot of charm and pockets of epic beaches. One such beach is within Canaveral National Seashore. The beach I visited was at the first beach access upon entering the park by car. It is a magnificent beach with beautiful water, nice sand a great boardwalk/walkover and adequate facilities. It’s also a great place to watch a SpaceX Falcon Heavy launch if you happen to plan it right! The best beach for that is Playalinda Beach all the way to the south in the park.
PARK COST & BEACH AMENITIES
Upon entering the park by car you’ll pay a $10 entry fee. There are a number of beach access points within the park and each access point has it’s own parking lot, restroom and shower. The restroom has space to change clothes after showering and it’s also worth noting that the restroom has a toilet that’s basically, a high-end, porta potty.
THE BEACH
The beach is pretty sweet. There is a ramp and stairs as a walkover and the beach is beautiful, peaceful and totally unspoiled. Because it’s the Atlantic Ocean, there are normally waves — sometimes big ones, but, on this day, the water was very calm. One thing I like is when the ocean looks blue. This part of Florida and south is where the water is that color. The further south you go the clearer and more blue it gets. Another thing that makes Canaveral National Seashore fantastic is access to the bay via a boat ramp. I’ll make sure to highlight that in a future post.
If you are in the New Smyrna Beach area or plan to visit it, make sure to check out Canaveral National Seashore and it’s beautiful beaches. They make an amazing lazy location!
